By: Chandler, Editor-In-Chief For new players, unfortunately, getting scammed is going to likely be a part of their journey at some point or another. YoNews would like to share some common scams that can hopefully save a few people from experiencing one and losing out on things they have worked hard for. The event category hosts the majority of scams in the game. Never pay to play a game in the event section, and never pay to re-enter a game. People will get kicked before the prize is given almost always in those cases. Though these events have dwindled down a little, 'doubling coins' events still make occasional appearances. These are always a scam, so make sure to never participate in those events. Another common scam is unusual or suspicious links. Links sent by people you do not know should immediately give people red flag warnings, because some of them can be ways for hackers to take over accounts completely, not just some coins. If a website is offering free items, or coins/yocash, it is likely faulty. Granted, there will occasionally be websites, like the upcoming priceguide, that will provide a unique rewards system, however, the site will never ask for the username or password to any specific account, like Facebook for example. Players will create a separate username and password for the priceguide account, though even that will not be required to use the priceguide. Another key thing to look for in a lot of these suspicious websites and posts are spelling and grammar. If anything seems suspicious, have extreme caution. The overall message is very simple. If something seems too good to be true, it likely is. Big Viking Games has implemented some great safety features that can help protect your YoWorld account, which you can find in the YoWorld Forums, or in the settings tab within the game itself. Even with the features BVG has provided, people still need to be extremely cautious, because the Vikings cannot restore any lost coins/yocash/items from scams. If you see a scam or unfortunately experienced a scam, click the player, and report them. Doing so will at least notify the Vikings, and put them under their radar.
