By: Chandler, Editor-In-Chief For about a week now, YoWorld has had its fair share of glitches, from getting online, to visiting buddies. Complaints have flooded the YoWorld Forums board, and day by day, more keep pouring in. Players are beyond frustrated, not only for not being able to access the game, but also for having a lack of communication from the Vikings. Though Viking Jess has tried to be vigilant in replying to these type of threads, no clear answers as to why this is happening have been announced. One of Jess' most recent comments said, "Sorry about that, Ariel! We're already looking at what's happening. Hopefully I'll have more news to share soon," responding to a YoWorld forumer. The problem typically occurs more during the evening, likely having to do with the influx of players signing on, however, this afternoon, the game was inaccessible for everyone, and the maintenance banner was even temporarily shown without any sort of prior warning. The only thing we have heard so far is that the problem has something to do with the servers, though it could be even bigger than that. As soon as we find out more information, YoNews will add to this article. Until then, head to the YoWorld Forums to see what the latest updates are! -------- Update-7/30/18 @approx 2:30pm central From Viking Jess: "Hi again! YoWorld is experiencing intermittent periods of downtime today. Our team is working diligently to identify and resolve the source of these issues. This thread will contain updates as to Yo's status as I receive them. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone, and thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to get this solved for you."

By: Chandler, Editor-In-Chief As of July 9, Big Viking Games launched a new way to play YoWorld, which is through a downloaded desktop application. This is in effort to try to alleviate some of the difficulty that will start to surface because of Adobe Flash ending in 2020. The new way to play YoWorld still runs on flash. "Our new App still runs Flash - we're just making it easier to run Flash for the time being, while we work on the final solution for 2020 ," says Viking Jess on the YoWorld Forums. For those who use Puffin browser, it too will be phased out by 2020, as it is a flash supported browser. This app, according to Viking Jess, runs on its own unique browser. Some players on the YoWorld Forums are requesting for there to be a 'zoom' feature, so players only see the game screen instead of the Facebook UI as well, and Viking Jess says that it is something the team is actively working on, and will hopefully be coming out in a future update. YoWorld is offering an incentive for players who use the new version to play, and is giving out coins/cash/items each and every day. Whether or not this feature will be implemented permanently has yet to be announced. By: Chandler, Editor-In-Chief YoWorld Fun Rush, after seven amazing years, has decided to shut down June 24. The announcement comes as a shock to many players, as the page has been flourishing for years, and has given out hundreds of millions of coins, thousands of YoCash, and an abundant amount of prizes to the Yo-Community. "The decision was one of the hardest decisions we have made, but we feel now is the right time to do it as we end on a high," says the YFR team on Facebook. There were no prior hints indicating that the page would be ending so abruptly, however, they are going out with quite a bang. Contest hosts' Nekroz and Zephyrine hosted a joint 20,000,000 coin contest as they give their final farewells. YoWorld Fun Rush says that they will be taking a 'trip down memory lane' over the next couple days, remembering all of the fun they have had in the past seven years. By: Chandler, Editor-In-Chief The Summer Kickoff Event is here, and has been labeled as quite a confusing feature by many YoFans. Hopefully, YoNews will be able to break it down and give straight-forward answers to a lot of the common questions we have been seeing. First and foremost, this feature has two events running at the same time, and that is the regular daily challenges that typically get players gems and a free item, and a clothing challenge event. Though both of these are seperate events, they do tie together where the prizes are concerned. YoFans can earn gems from both events, which leads to more prizes at the end of the day. The tokens that are being given out for every daily "hangout" challenge players do will help lead towards unlocking new tiers of prizes, which can be found under the symbol that looks like a mystery box. The 'shop' section has been updated, and is quite a bit more complex now. Now, players will see a variety of deals, offers, and bundles to buy gems. The first section of the 'shop' area in the event lets players open chests with the gems they have. The next section is where daily deals will appear, and will be changed out every 24 hours. The following section is where 'new tier deals' will be held, so these will likely only appear for every five tokens you have. The concluding section is where the basic, yet most expensive offers lay. The cost to buy gems is significantly higher this time, however, players will recieve two items instead of one for every opened chest. Now we will look at the other event, which is the clothing challenges. This works similarly to the past decor challenges from a couple months ago. BVG provided a variety of template outfits a player can choose from, and a description of the outfit challenge. At the end of each weeks challenge, the player gets to keep the outfit template they chose, so choose wisely. Once a player chooses their outfit is when it gets tricky. Let's put it into an example. If the outfit contains a dress, hat, pair of pants, and shoes, all four of those categories MUST have an item equipped. If someone does not like the item currently on the outfit template, simply hit 'swap item' on the item preferred instead. Hopefully this cleared some things up that were a bit confusing, and are now made a little more sensible. By: Everleigh Tanner, YoWorld Journalist From "Let Freedom Ring," to "I Got A Snake In My Boot," YoWorld is bringing a brand new theme into the game, labeled "Western Frontier." This theme will be BVG's interpretation of Zynga's Wild West theme, and will last about 13 days. The Vikings 2013 theme is on a 30% off sale for the duration of this theme, which is likely due to having versatile items that can be used towards the new Western Frontier theme. Let us know what you think of the new theme on our facebook page. |
